How to Remove Paint from Laminate Floors: The Quickest & Safest Methods (2022)
Laminate floors are known for their sensitivity. They can be damaged by a lot of things, ranging from strong impacts, liquids, to chemicals. It is because of this reason that laminate floors are one of the trickiest types of floors to clean out there.
So, what to do when you accidentally spill or drop a few beads of paint onto the floor?
From TheKingLive’s editorial board, this article on how to remove paint from Laminate floor can show you exactly what to do to fix that up!
Clean It Up As Quickly As You Can
If the paint just recently dropped onto the floor and hasn’t dried, there’s still hope yet. Dampen a rag to quickly sweep it up. That’s all there is.
Unfortunately, most people only ever find spilled paint when it’s already dried. So, if that’s your case, move onto the next part.
Use a Homemade Paint Cleaner Solution
Start off by carefully cleaning the area around the spot with the spilled paint. You can use a broom or a vacuum cleaner to pick up all the dirt and dust. They could scratch the surface of your floor as you try to scrub out the paint.
Next, gather the ingredients and brew a homemade cleaning solution.
In a large bucket, combine equal parts of water, rubbing alcohol, and white vinegar together. After that, add a few droplets of mild dish soap. Mix until bubbles start to form.
Dampen a rag or a laminate floor mop with the solution and scrub at the spot until the paint comes off.
The solution should work with both water-based and oil-based paints. Water-based paints can be dissolved by vinegar and water. Oil-based paints can be dealt with by rubbing alcohol and dish soap.
Nail Polish Remover
If the solution above doesn’t work, it’s time to bust out the heavy weapon: acetone nail polish remover. Do note that this solution is very caustic. Exercise caution while handling it as well as when you apply it to the floor.
Apply nail polish remover onto the dried paint. Take care to only apply it onto the paint. Try your best to not let the caustic liquid from getting onto the floor itself.
Let the nail polish remover sit for a couple of minutes, then wipe it with a clean, dry cloth. Re-apply as many times as you’d like until the paint washes off.
Ammonia Window Cleaner
A very common ingredient in window cleaners is ammonia, which turns out to be a very strong cleaner. Many brands of paint contain sulfur, which can be neutralized by ammonia. If both the homemade paint cleaning solution and nail polish remover don’t work, try this one out.
Once again, before you start, sweep the floor with a broom or a vacuum to eliminate all of the dirt and debris still sitting on the ground. If you let them sit, they could scratch the floor.
Apply the ammonia window cleaner onto the paint stains. Let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then, use a dry cloth or a soft-bristled brush to scrub at the spot. Re-apply as many times as it would take for the paint to wash out.
Conclusion
These are four of the safest methods to take care of paint spills on your laminate floors. Hopefully, these would work out for you.
